Complete PT-BR Localization for a D&D Adventure

Asteroid Duet was released by the amazing team of Legends of Avantris during their Neon Odyssey record-breaking Kickstarter campaign. The following material is a four-page sci-fi adventure independently localized into Brazilian Portuguese so a whole new audience of players could enjoy it.

All terminology was developed to remain consistent with established Brazilian Portuguese RPG conventions. The goal was to create natural PT-BR language at the table across its narrative, rules, science-fiction terminology, stat blocks and final editorial layout, so the material would feel native to the setting regardless of the language spoken by the players.

This way, the Stardust Rhapsody came a little closer to planet Earth and felt more like home for Brazilian TTRPG players.

Localization Decisions

Localizing Asteroid Duet into Brazilian Portuguese meant solving challenges that went far beyond replacing one word with another. English and Portuguese differ in length, rhythm and structure. The same term can carry different meanings depending on its function and every choice still needs to feel coherent within a highly customized sci-fi universe.

From adapting text to fit the original layout to distinguishing between the different uses of the same English word, each decision had to balance meaning, clarity, consistency and tone. The goal was not simply to preserve what the English said, but to find creative solutions that made the adventure feel natural, playable and just as full of personality in Brazilian Portuguese.
